- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup chopped chives (optional)
- Butter or non-stick spray for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and heavy cream until smooth.
- Stir in the shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and chives.
- Pour the mixture into the greased pie dish, spreading the ingredients evenly.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream and use turkey bacon. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
