Yield: 12 large servings
Ingredients:
• 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz / 432g)
• 1 large egg
• ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (113g)
For the gooey layer:
• 8 oz cream cheese, softened (226g)
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (113g)
• 3 ½ cups powdered sugar (420g)
• ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (30g)
• ½ cup chocolate chips (85g)
How to make it:
Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, egg, and melted butter until a thick dough forms.
Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan to create the base layer.
In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Add eggs, vanilla, and melted butter, mixing until creamy and fully combined.
Sift in powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then mix until smooth and thick.
Fold in chocolate chips for extra melty pockets.
Pour the gooey chocolate layer over the crust and spread evenly.
Bake for 35–40 minutes. The center should still look slightly soft—that’s what makes it ooey gooey!
Let the Chocolate Ooey Gooey Cake cool before slicing so the layers set but stay perfectly fudgy.
Serve slightly warm for maximum gooey goodness… maybe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top 😍
