Frosted Eggnog Sugar Cookies

Description

Soft sugar cookies with eggnog flavor, topped with a sweet frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • For the frosting: 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup eggnog, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the eggnog.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the frosting: Whisk together the powdered sugar, eggnog, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Frost the cooled cookies.

Notes

  • You can add a sprinkle of nutmeg on top of the frosting for extra flavor and decoration.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
