Ingredients

  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a Bundt pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add molasses and egg, mix well.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and hot water to the batter.
  5. Pour batter into the pan and bake for 40-45 minutes.
  6. Cool cake in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. Mix powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk for the glaze.
  8. Drizzle glaze over cooled cake.

Notes

  • Store cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For extra spice, add 1/4 tsp nutmeg.
  • Use dark molasses for a richer flavor.
