Description

Festive and fun Grinch-shaped cookies perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup green food coloring
  • 1/2 cup red candy melts
  • 1/4 cup green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half. Add green food coloring to one half and mix until evenly colored.
  6. Chill both doughs for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. For each cookie, take a small amount of plain dough and flatten it. Place a small amount of green dough in the center and gently fold the plain dough around it to create a Grinch-like shape.
  9. Place cookies on prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  10. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  11. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  12. Melt red candy melts according to package directions.
  13. Dip the bottom of each cookie into the melted candy melts and immediately sprinkle with green sprinkles.
  14. Let the candy melts set before serving.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of green food coloring to achieve your desired Grinch green.
  • For a smoother melt, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil to the candy melts.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
