Hearty Chili Cheese Fries

Description

Make delicious chili cheese fries at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound frozen french fries
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chili beans, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the french fries according to package directions.
  2. While the fries are baking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, and cumin. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring the chili to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the fries are done, top them with the chili and shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Return the fries to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can add other toppings like sour cream or jalapeños.
  • For a spicier chili, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
