Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mix in limoncello, lemon juice, lemon zest, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
Notes
For extra lemon flavor, brush the cake layers with additional limoncello before frosting.
