Description

Mushroom Swiss Cheese Meatloaf is a delicious twist on the classic meatloaf, featuring rich Swiss cheese and earthy mushrooms for an irresistible combination of flavors and textures.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded or cubed
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté mushrooms, onions, and garlic until softened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, thyme, and oregano. Add the sautéed mushroom mixture and mix gently until well incorporated.
  4. Fold in Swiss cheese, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture into a greased loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
  6. Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a cheesier meatloaf, top with extra Swiss cheese during the last 10 minutes of baking. Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
