- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded or cubed
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté mushrooms, onions, and garlic until softened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, thyme, and oregano. Add the sautéed mushroom mixture and mix gently until well incorporated.
- Fold in Swiss cheese, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
- Transfer the meat mixture into a greased loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
- Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a cheesier meatloaf, top with extra Swiss cheese during the last 10 minutes of baking. Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
