Description

A simple one-pot meal with ground beef, rice, and cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any fat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Add the rice, beef broth, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked.
  5. Stir in the cheese until melted.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables, such as bell peppers or mushrooms.
  • For extra flavor, use a different type of cheese.
