Yield: 12 large servings

Ingredients:

For the Peanut Butter Sheet Cake
• 2 cups all-purpose flour (250 g)
• 2 cups granulated sugar (400 g)
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 cup unsalted butter (226 g)
• 1 cup creamy peanut butter (250 g)
• 1 cup water (240 ml)
• ½ cup buttermilk (120 ml)
• 2 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Peanut Butter Frosting
• ½ cup unsalted butter (113 g)
• ½ cup creamy peanut butter (125 g)
• ¼ cup milk (60 ml)
• 3 cups powdered sugar (360 g)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• Pinch of salt

How to make it:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with the peanut butter and water. Stir until smooth and just beginning to simmer.
  4. Pour the warm peanut butter mixture over the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the batter is smooth and creamy.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. While the cake bakes, make the peanut butter frosting. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with peanut butter and milk, stirring until smooth.
  8. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until thick and creamy.
  9. Pour the warm peanut butter frosting over the warm cake and spread evenly. The frosting will soak slightly into the cake, creating that classic sheet cake texture.
  10. Let the Peanut Butter Sheet Cake cool for about 20–30 minutes before slicing.

Serve slightly warm for the softest, gooey peanut butter cake experience.
