Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
  6. Place cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  7. Cool completely before decorating.
