Description

A rich and decadent chocolate cobbler with a moist cake-like topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the water, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the boiling water over the batter and stir gently until smooth. The batter will be thin.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • For an extra chocolatey flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
