- 4 large portobello mushroom caps, stems removed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, your favorite sauce
Instructions
- Clean the mushroom caps and remove the stems.
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
- Brush the marinade onto both sides of the mushroom caps. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill the mushroom caps for 5-7 minutes per side, or until tender and slightly charred.
- While the mushrooms are grilling, lightly toast your burger buns on the grill if desired.
- Assemble your burgers with the grilled portobello mushrooms, buns, and your chosen toppings.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add herbs like rosemary or thyme to the marinade.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can roast the mushrooms in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes.
