Description

A simple overnight French toast casserole recipe that is easy to prepare the night before for a quick breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (1 pound) French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place bread cubes in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour egg mixture over bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Mix until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the French toast casserole.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
  7. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
