Description
A refreshing homemade lemonade infused with fresh strawberries and basil.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 6 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and basil sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- In a blender, combine sliced strawberries and basil leaves. Puree until smooth.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. This is your simple syrup.
- In a large pitcher, combine the strawberry-basil puree, lemon juice, and the cooled simple syrup. Stir well.
- Add the remaining 5 cups of cold water and stir again.
- Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve over ice, garnished with lemon slices and fresh basil sprigs.
Notes
- For a smoother texture, you can strain the strawberry-basil puree through a fine-mesh sieve before adding it to the pitcher.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to the simple syrup.
- You can make the strawberry-basil puree and simple syrup ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
